Art House Productions & Tris McCall

In 2015 and 2016, Tris McCall left New Jersey to discover (the rest of) America. In each city he visited, he wrote a short story, and then a song narrated by the story's main character. During his travels, the journalist, novelist, musician and critic would write more than thirty combinations of songs and stories. Many of those stories have never been read, and more than a few of those songs have never been heard.
On December 6, McCall and his band will present twelve of these songs alongside *McCall's Almanac*, a collection of corresponding short stories. (The book, which'll be available after the show, is illustrated by Sean Suchara, creator of the "How to Summon an Elemental" exhibition at SMUSH Gallery.) Expect reflections on the country we've discovered, gavel-like banging on the piano and drums, economical melodies and philosophical sentences, wry jokes, feather-light paragraphs and dense harmonies, and some surprisingly catchy choruses, too.
